The german bunkers nowadays remaining along the European coast (Atlantic and Mediterranean) are a tangible souvenir of the Second World War. In an attempt to recycle that human artefact and domesticate its past, the artist fills to the brim an entire bunker with tons of thin beach sand, creating a small sand pit for kids.
With the same alarming (seemingly innocent) lightness, politics and media deal with Resistance, their living witnesses, and the anti-fascist message that monuments of human madness like bunkers should constantly remind younger generations. They do it through the alibi of reconciliation, progress, stability, responsibility, etc. |
I bunker tedeschi oggigiorno disseminati lungo le coste europee (atlantiche e mediterranee) sono il ricordo tangibile della seconda guerra mondiale. Nel tentativo di riciclare tale artefatto dell’uomo e addomesticarne il suo passato, l’artista riempie fino all’orlo un intero bunker con tonnellate di sabbia fina da spiaggia, dando vita ad una sabbionaia per bambini.
Con la stessa allarmante (apparentemente innocente) leggerezza uomini politici e media trattano la Resistenza, i suoi testimoni viventi e il messaggio antifascista che monumenti della follia umana come i bunkers dovrebbero costantemente ricordare alle giovani generazioni. Lo fanno attraverso l’alibi della riconciliazione, del progresso, della stabilità, della responsabilità, etc. |
Les bunkers allemands dispersés aujourd'hui le long des côtes européennes (Atlantique et Méditerranée) sont la mémoire tangible de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Dans le tentative de recycler l'artefact de l'homme et de falsifier son passé, l'artiste remplit un bunker entier avec des tonnes de sable fin de plage, créant un bac à sable pour les enfants.
Avec la même légèreté alarmante (apparemment innocente), les hommes politiques et média traitent de la Résistance, de leurs témoins vivants, et du message antifasciste selon lequel les monuments de la folie humaine comme les bunkers doivent constamment rappeler aux jeunes générations. Ils le font par l'alibi de la réconciliation, du progrès, de la stabilité, de la responsabilité, etc. |
